PHOTOGRAPHER
Sandun De Silva

Sandun De Silva is one of the 'few' for whom work is a heady fusion of photography and food. A combination that nourishes the creative spirit within and, it seems, also pays the bills. Although the way has been long and winding, he has arrived and glamour, excitement, the dazzling and delicious are all in a day's work.
During his time as co-editor of the Leisure Times the opportunity to be staff photographer presented itself. "We were short staffed and I had to snap some shots and that got me interested". What followed was some messing about with the office camera and dad's camera. "Most of my photography I have learnt on the job and picked up myself. I simply followed my creative instincts"
The work of fashion photographer Helmut Newton and Dominic Sansoni have inspired him along the way. He goes on to say that just about one and a half years ago, while event coordinating for the Ford Super Model Sri Lanka "I was experimenting with the camera and the producer of the event was so pleased with the shots that she asked me to be the photographer for the event. That's how I really got involved with fashion and glamour photography".
Sandun's other great love is food and he is starting work on a new series titled 'Cooking and Beyond' for the local channel Art TV, which will air in December this year. As the host of the show he will be spending some quality time with his 'chef persona'.
